The Guardian UK news organization is having a beast of a time figuring out the interplay between all the different financial vehicles and assests that house the many millions of pounds that the former prime minister has earned since he left office in 2007. So they've posted to their website all the relevant documents, and are asking tax specialists and accountants in particular to help them make sense of the structures and why someone like Blair might want to store his money in such a fashion. Somewhat strangely, this is structured as a contest, rather than some sort of experiment in collaborative journalism. The grand prize is a prized cartoon. More:

The former prime minister Tony Blair has received millions of pounds through an unusual mixture of commercial, charitable and religious income streams. Since he stepped down from office in 2007, his financial affairs have been described by observers as "Byzantine" and "opaque". The Guardian is now launching an online competition offering a prize to the person who can shine the brightest light on those financial structures.
